NO BANK HOLIDAY.
HITLER’S “ACHIEVEAIENT.” (From Daventry.) For the first time in 69 years August Bank Holiday was not observed in Britain. Almost all businesses carried on as usual, only those . unfortunate enough to be workless enjoying the holiday. In announcing this in the mid-day broadcast of the 8.8. C., Air Vernon Bartlett, the incisive commentator of the corporation, “paid a tribute” v to Adolf Hitler as the man who had caused this break in their holiday after so many years. Everybody knew, he said, how the British intensely disliked having their routine disturbed.
