THE YEAR’S PAYOUT. Presenting the annual report on behalf of the board of directors of the Baincssc Dairy Company, the chairman (Mr F. Bo P. Robin) states: “The advance payment has been 15d, and the balance in the appropriation account is equal to 2.05 d, after making provision to pay interest on shares, which equals ,124 d, giving a total payout for the season of 17.174 d per lb of butterfat. Your directors recommend that 2d per lb on all butterfat, also five per cent, interest on shares, be paid at the annual meeting. The payout as estimated. for 1938-39, 17.256 d, was paid to suppliers on all butterfat and, stocks of cheoso in store have been valued at the prices according to the grade. Mr H. J. Pees again offers hie services as auditor. The retiring directors are Messrs F. Lc P. Ilobin, S. J. Pearce and 11. Millard, who, being eligible, offer themselves for re-election. The directors extend their thanks to the manager and his staff, also to the secrotary for the attention paid to the interests of the company. Wo would take this opportunity of requesting shareholders to endeavour to increase their butterfat returns this year in view of tho Government’s offer to supply more cheese to the Old Country. Tho factory and plant are in excellent order, and have been duly overhauled during tho winter. The financial position of the company is sound, and a further reduction in the overdraft was made during the year. Number of suppliers, 17 (17); pounds of milk, cheese, 5,394.698 (5,086,697); separated,'' 68,322 (117,239); separated, 68.322 (117.239); total milk, 5,463,020 (5,203,936); pounds of butterfat, cheese, 246.350 ( 231,508); pounds of butterfat, separated, 3983 ( 5664); total butterfat, 250,333 (237,172); average butterfat test, 4.582 (4.557); pounds of cheese to pounds of fat. 2.421 (2.442); pounds of milk to [rounds of cheese, 9.040 ( 8.999); total pounds of cheese, 596,470 (565,341); tonnage, cheese, 266 tons 5 cwt 701 b (252 tons 7cwt 771 b): grade of milk, first, 95.360 (95.660); second, 4.640 (4.340); whey fat, 15,748 (16,355); whey fa?t recovery, 6.40 per cent. (7 per cent.); average grade of cheese, 91.722 (91.939); charges to f.0.b., 3.476 d (3.450 d).
