DAIRYING PROSPECTS.

CRITICISM IN NORTH. AUCKLAND, Aug. 4. Not only is there a healthy optimism among fanners for the success of dairying in the approaching spring, but at this stage, of the year producers are also receiving substantial deferred payments front the 1939-40 season, which was marked by a high yield of butter and cheese. Without exception 21 co-operative dairy companies in the province, whose i figures have been released, report a greatly increased output for 1939-40. and in at least six cases the quantity of the produce manufactured was a record. Many farmers consider the winter to have been the best for decades. The percentage of the increase for the season ranges in the case of individual dairying companies from about nine to 15 per cent. In the case of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Coy., Ltd., which controls 40 butter and cheese factories, the percentage advance was 14.53, which represented an increase of 9265 tons of produce over the previous year. Stock has wintered well and farms are in excellent condition for the start of the now season.
