DECIDED SUPERIORITY. Playing in the main match on the oval, University accounted for United by 16 points to 3. The teams were : University.—Duncan, Bowler, Sellars, Pearce, Stewart, Land, Bishop, Green, Wallace, Gray, Craven, McLaren, Carter, Johnston, Bowles. United.—Mabey, Campbell, Yule, Temperton, Ryder, Hill, Bradley, Luxmoore, G. Arnott, Dustin. Robertson, Ward, J. Arnott, Pike, McKeanv. University swung straight into the attack, Bowles being given an early run on the wing, and then Mabey brought Pearce down brilliantly hut was hurt and had to retire from the field for a short time. Craven eventually scored and Stewart converted with a fine kick. Stewart took tho second try with a breakaway from the ruck, dodging Mabey and Adamson. His own kick missed. Yule and Pike showed up prominently and A Yard nearly scored in a forward assault on the University line. Half-time followed. In the second half Bishop, the University half-back shot over the line from a melee close in, McLaren converting with an easy kirk. United attacked persistently and AVard and Dustin were close to scoring. The United team kept up the pressure and MeKeanv eventually reached the goalline in a forward battle. The kick was too long for Mabev to convert. At the close of the match Pearce scored University’s final try. Stewart’s kick going wide. The final score was:—University 16, United 3. Mr A. Gordon was the referee.
