The concert staged last week by tlie Wortdville Women’s Institute glee club will benefit the Red Cross funds to the extent of £2O. “We are more than satisfied with the excellent results attending our effort,” said the producer (Mrs ,T. McCormick) when making known the result to a “Manawatu Standard” representative. An interesting visitor to Woodville on Saturday for the diamond jubilee meeting of the Loyal Woodville Lodge of Oddfellows was P.G. Bro. H. Mainwright, tin old resident of this district and a member of the lodge of 56 years standing. Bro. Waimvright now resides in Auckland. Basketball and Rugby football teams representing the Pahiatua District High School visited Woodville to play inter-school games with the Woodville District High School. In the basketball match Woodville won l>v 27 goals to 9. but in the Rugby Pahiatua’s first fifteen beat the opposition to tlie tune of 41 points to nil. Tries were scored ml Beales. Staples, C. Kershaw. M. Howell. Carrad and 11. Fergus, while S. Beales was successful with several conversions.
