DAIRY PRODUCTION.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I wish to thank you- for your footnote to my letter giving Mr Larcomb’s full explanation of the position as it exists to-day and dealing with my fourth question; the other three urgent questions have not yet been answered by the industry. In mv letter I drew attention to the need of inspecting rand checking the moneys pa i d in and out of the dairy companies. The auditor’s report (as published m the balance-sheet) states that it is conditional to the information and explanations given to him and as shown by the books of the company, and does not carry any further responsibility. Therefore, sir, the need ar.ses for some better system of protecting suppliers. As it i 6 to-day, the secretary has to carry the whole responsibility without any protection to himself. Surely, then, even dairy company secretaries themselves would welcome some such protection as suggested. I am, etc., PRODUCER. 2-S-40.
