Oroua Federation: Makino (10s); potatoes, Parewanui (5s 4d). As Mrs Guthrie, through indisposition, had been unable to attend the representative council meeting recently held in Wellington, as the Oroua Federation delegate, Mrs C. M. Stanley had taken her place. The delegate gave a full report of all the business done. She was cordially thanked for her work, which had been undertaken at short notice. Mrs Guthrie moved a vote of thanks for the services rendered by Mrs McCorkindale and Miss M. Grant (president of the Manawatu Federation). These two members have just retired from a number of years’ faithful service on the Dominion executive. They also gave several years on the old North Wellington Provincial Federation executive, and Oroua Federation members felt that they could not be allowed to" retire without appreciation being recorded. Mrs McCorkindaie and Miss Grant are active members of the Oroua and Manawftu Federations, respectively. The vote was passed with acclamation, Mrs McCorkindale presented a report on the recent National Council of Women meeting, and their remits were endorsed by Oroua. War work in'the institutes was fully discussed, and it cannot be too ' strongly stressed that members should make the - institutes the vehicles foc t carrying on tho activities women may be called upon to undertake in connection with the war. A tentative date in October was decided upon for the half-yearly council meeting, and the next federation meeting will be held at the end of September.—Apiti correspondent.
