(From Our Own Correspondent.) lIALCOMBE, Aug. 1. Tn the men’s golf competition the semifinals in the Goldfinch and Cousins Gup resulted: 11. Fergusson beat R. J. Alanagh at the 20th; *l/ O’Sullivan beat N. Anderson. The eclectic competition results were: Senior, K. Fergusoon, 27; junior, E. W. Cowdrey, 26. Handicap reductions are: L. Anderson 17, J. O’Sullivan 19, Iv. Fergusson 20, N. Ashworth 24, R. Taylor 25, L. Fergusson 27, C. Fergusson 28, B. Bradley 35. The draw for next week’s bogey competition is: N. Anderson, G. Bevan and L. Anderson; I. Owen, D. Alanagh, and Iv. Fergusson; J. O’Sullivan, H. Fergusson and L. Miller; I. Old, It. Anderson and R. J. Alanagh; G. Nicol, R. Taylor and J. Coulson; E. Cowdrey, B. Bradley and L. The monthly meeting of the HalcombcKakariki branch of the W.D.F.U. was presided over by Mrs I. L. Brett. A 1 embers were asked to stand in silence out of respect to the late Airs J. Fergusson. Airs D. Jensen was welcomed as a new member. It was proposed that two soldiers’ parcels ho forwarded when required. The president gave a very interesting report on a special provincial meeting held at Marlon. Arrangements were made for the birthday party to he held this month. The winner of the competition was Aliss F. Scales. The hostesses were Airs and Aliss J.’ Fergusson. Air and Airs E. Alarkham arc spending a holiday in Nelson. ,
