R.A.F. IN MIDDLE EAST. DESTRUCTIVE BOMBING. LONDON, June 13. “In the Middle East attacks were carried out by R.A.F. bombers on the Italian base at Assab on the Red Sea, where a power-house, petrol dump and barracks were destroyed,” states an Air ' Ministry communique. ‘.‘Dire Dawa, in Ethiopia, on the railway line from Addis Ababa, -was also attacked and an ammunition dump blown up. 1 ' Contrary to certain misinformed reports it is officially stated in London that there has been no genera] evacuation of women and children from Malta, nor was any such evacuation contemplated. The first trainload of 700 Italians left London for Italy to-night. The Italian Ambassador (Signor Bastianini) and his family followed by a later train. There were no demonstrations. A Santa Cruz message says six Italian ships are seeking refuge at Teneriffe. The crew of the Italian steamer Malta beached' the' vessel and then went overboard after a French warship in hot pursuit fired several shells. The warship went off in pursuit of another Italian ship. Belgrade reports that German forces estimated at six armoured and two infantry companies are reported to have gone to Italy from the AustrianItalian border. It is also reported from the Yugoslavian frontier that, other German troops are reaching Italy nightly. s
