BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING The monthly meeting of tlie Board of Directors of the Y.AV.C.A. was- held at the home of Mrs P. E. Flood, Mrs C. A. Small presiding. The reports of general and assistant secretaries showed a month of much activity. The association was sharing in all efforts made in the city in connection with patriotic work, and in the Red Cross Appeal street days had manned the Coleman Place section. Outside contacts had been made through talks given by tlie general secretary to three groups of women; the club rooms had been increasingly used by various clubs, including' the AV.E.A. At the board members’ monthly bridge party the hostesses were Mesdames K. Dean and AV. J. Phillips and Miss M. Forrest; two other financial functions were, an at home at which Miss Evelyn AA'atson of the National Y.AViC.A. Board spoke on her experiences abroad and a musical recital given by Mr Paul Schramm. Miss E. Law, national general secretary, spent a few hours here when en route to Auckland, providing an opportunity for sharing national and local Y.AV.C.A. news. Round Table Club members appreciated a brief survey of European affairs given by Mr R. H. Billons; the Lyceum Club arranged a farewell tea in honour of their president (Miss L. Elston), who is leaving Palmerston North to take up nursing; they were /the guests of Mrs J. Itainforth at one of their meetings, and commenced a AAMC.A. box course oil music, art and literature as their club programme. The mothers’ club showed an increase in membership and was working steadily to support the girls’ work. Girl Citizens and Junior Citizens held a joint party in celebration of Mothers’ Day, when their niothers were guests. The basketball season had opened and the association had entered two teams. Throughout the association there was a very real sense of fellowship and a quickened sympathy ns members of . a world movement, which was heartening in these anxious days.
