GERMANS DRIVEN BACK

FRENCH LAUNCH COUNTER-ATTACK ENEMY PRESSURE IN WEST (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph— Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received June 14, 9.43 a.m. RUGBY, June 13. North of Paris a French counter-attack today near Persant-Beaumont, on the Oise (14 miles north-west of the city), drove the Germans back eight kilometres, and fighting is taking place at Senlis (32 miles north-east of the capital) towards the, river. This town was occupied by the Germans in September, 1914, and Marshal Eoch had his headquarters there when the enemy applied for an armistice on November 8, 1918. French military experts state that the two most delicate • points on the Front are on the Lower Seine near Vernon (midway between Paris and Rouen) and in Champagne. In the latter region the German effort was renewed vigorously this morning, an attempt being made to separate the armies from the Maginot Line.
