WINTER SHOW
COUNTRY PEOPLE’S DAY. SHEEP DOG. DISPLAY. The attendance at the Winter Show yesterday afternoon was swelled considerably by the usual Thursday influx of country people,to the city, The attractions were particularly applicable, as the Young Farmers’ Clubs seven-a-side Rugby tournament and the demonstration of working five sheep dogs at once, by Mr R. Fortune, of Tim.aru, were the attractions on oval in the afternoon. 1 Repeating the excellence of the display he gave at a former Show, Mr Fortune’s dogs handled a group of six sheep and put them through a series of evolutions, eventually dividing the mob into two and penning each group of three on opposite sides of the grassed area. The demonstration, in which was used the winning dog of the sheep dog trial of the previous day, brought forth very high praise from men who have had a lifetime’s experience . in working dogs, and was also greatly appreciated by the townspeople in attendance.'
