A large number patronised the first monthly dance of the Red Cross social committee,-which was held on Wednesday in the Cosmopolitan Hall. They music was supplied by a professional . orchestra, and Mr Howard York was'• •M.C. Mr Williamson, “the singingjockey,” received much applause when., he sang a bracket *of 6ong6. Miss- Et v Turner also sang well. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Thorner and Mr Evans, and a lucky Gay Gordons by Miss M. Smith and Mr G. Harvey. Air G. Dawson played for extra dances. Owing to urtforseen circumstances the next monthly dance is to bo held earlier than previously announced.
