BANKNOTES STOLEN.
Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, June 12. The theft of £230 in notes from a room-mate was admitted to-day by Francis AVilliam George Reeves, aged 21, a labourer, before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., who committed him to the Supreme Court for sentence. The notes were the property of Jack Edward AVard, of Island Bay. a grocer, who went to bed, patting his trousers under the pillow. They contained a roll of £l3O in notes and. another roll pf £IOO. AVhen he woke in the morning the trousers were gone. He found them on a fence near the house with £l3O still in them and £IOO gone. A police statement included accused s admission that he took the trousers, removed one roll, and left the other. He spent £7 10s, and the rest had been recovered.
