LINTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent) LINTON June 12. On Tuesday afternoon members of the Women’s Institute entertained Mrs Moyes and Mrs Lash at a' farewell party at the residence of Mrs Gilliland. These two members are about to leave the district and will be missed from the institute especially. Posies made by Miss Rix were presented to both The time was spent in playing whist, the winners being Mrs D. Currin (consolation, Mrs L. Craw). Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Gilliland after which Mrs T. Lynch asked Mrs Moyes and Mrs Lash each to accept a book entitled “Pioneer Women” with the best wishes of the institute members. Both ladies, in reply, expressed regret at leaving the district and asked all present to visit them in their new homes. At a recent card party the winners were Miss Z. Terry and Master D. Gilliland. Mr and Mrs E. W. Cfoucher have returned from a holiday spent in Hawera and New Plymouth. Mr J. Right has returned from a fortnight’s holiday in Auckland. Mr and Mrs S. Wilson are on holiday in Auckland, and are visiting their son, Mr Laurence Wilson. Mrs Swenson, of Dannevirke, and Mrs Mathews, of Woodville. have been "the guests of Mr and Mrs S. Swenson. Mrs R.'Batchelar. of Auckland, is the guest of Mr and Mrs A. F. Batchelar. Mr and Mrs E. Pringle are on holiday in the South Island. Mr ■J. Preston is the guest of Mr and Mrs J. L. Nash. ,
