EARLIER REPORTS. j BOMBS IN SWITZERLAND. LONDON, June 12. ' j In a message received at midday it was stated tliat the French military : spokesman said that the Italians had brought up to the French frontier heavy equipment but had not attacked yet. The Geneva correspondent of the.' Associated Press of Great Britain says that at least one person mls killed and six were injured when an aeroplane, believed to have been Italian, bombed a residential suburb of Geneva this morning. The Swiss High Command reports that one woman and one soldier were killed and 12 people were sent to hospital when foreign ’planes dropped five bombs on Geneva. Bombs were also dropped on other points round Lake Geneva. An inquiry is proceeding to establish the origin and character of the bombs. Rome had an air raid warning at 1.35 a.m. to-day. It lasted 35 minutes. The city; in which lights were already subdued, was immediately put into total darkness. There was no anti-aircraft firing. The first Italian war communique states that Italian and Allied ’planes had a clash on the frontier of .Libya and Egypt. _ • It is officially stated from Pretoria that a flight ot South African heavy bombers visited Italian Morale (neai the Kenya frontier) and successfully and heavily bombed Banda Hill and other military objectives. All returned safely. , ' ' , ' A Washington message says that the Secretary ot State (Mr Hull) officially and' personally informed the Italian Ambassador (Signor Colonna) that in his deliberate judgment Italy s' entrance into the war “would be considered one of the gravest of liuman tragedies” when Signor Colonnacalled and delivered the official notification of Italy’s action.
