ABSOLUTE LOYALTY.
COLOURED SOUTH AFRICANS. (British Official Wireless.) Received June 13, 9.38 a.m. RUGBY, June 12. : The chairman of the Cape Corps Association ha 6 assured the Brenner (General Smuts) of the absolute loyalty of the coloured (half-caste) people, who will provide tried fighting material. It was urged that the training of the Cape Corps as a competent unit should begin at once to enable the coloured people to take their. full part in the defence of South Africa and the Empire. Forty thousand pounds have already been- received for a fund in Capetown to enable the. public to assist in promoting the building of Spitfires for the Air Force. j MENACE TO SECURITY. The Prime Minister, in a broadcast, declared that, the Italian intervention directly menaced the immediate security of South Africa. The duty of South African's was to unite in defending their country against the grave clangers threatening from "the . north. From Lourenco Marques (Portuguese East Africa) it is stated crowds staged pro-Allied demonstrations outside the British and French Consulates. '
