PERSONAL.
After being headmaster of the Silverstream School for 13 years, Mr C. A. Eves has retired. At the annual meeting of the Horowhenua Electric Power Board, Mr G. A. Monk was re-elected chairman. Mr J. T. Johnson has been elected chairman of the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board for the twenty-first year in succession.
Mr B. E. Whi.tcombe, manager of the Bank of New South Wales in New Plymouth, and formerly of Marton, is to retire at the end of June. He will be succeeded by Mr A. H. Grant.
Mr. W. E. Anderson, of Auckland, who was recently appointed to succeed Mr T. O. Bishop as secretary of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, has enlisted for military service and has been passed as fit. Second. Lieutenant H. B. Burden, only son of Mr and Mrs H. E. Burden, .of Blenheim, has died of wounds received fighting in France, according to advice received from the War Office. Lieutenant Burden, who was an old boy of Nelson College, had been in the British Army for nearly six years. He was 28. years of age.
