Hon. W. Lea Martin (Minister of Agriculture'', who is indisposed, is in a private hospital in Wellington. Mr D. A. Young, Examiner of Titles, Land and Deeds Department, in Dunedin, lias been elected a mem her of the Public Service Board of Appeal. Mr M. W. Rees, of the Eastern Extension Cable Company, a son of Mrs C. A. Gaitt, of Rongopai Street, Palmerston North, has arrived at Fanning Island to take up an appointment.

The denth has occurred' at Christchurch of one of the best-known Methodist ministers in the Dominion and a prominent worker for prohibition, Rev. Thomas Fee, aged 8!). He entered the Methodist ministry in 1876, and attained the honour oi president of the Australasian Methodist Conference in 1909. ltev. Captain K. T. H’arawira, chaplain to the 28 Maori Battalion, who preached at All Saints’ Church, last evening, joined the Church of England ministry after the last war, in which he saw service as a combatant. His home is in North Auckland, but ho was stationed at .Rotorua bclore his appointment as chaplain of the battalion. During his term in the ministry Captain Harawira visited practically all parts of the North Island, and his wide knowledge of Maoris from many centres is a factor in his present appointment that is considered to he of great value. Mr IV. E. Hale, of Thames Valley, chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Board, Mr A. Linton, of Featherston, representative of the WairarapaHawke's Bay-Manawatu-Taranaki ward on the board, and Mr R. A. Candy, of Ngarua, chairman of the Herd Testing Recording Council of the board, were visitors to Palmerston North to-day. ■and spoke at a meeting of representatives of the dairying industry. They were accompanied by Mr C. H. Courtney, secretary of the board, and proceeded later in the day to Wanganui, To-morrow morning they will attend a meeting at Stratford.
