HARRIERS COMMENCE SEASON
The Eeilding Harriers’ Club officially commenced its 1940 season with a cross-country and road run of five miles on Saturday afternoon. Air H. C. D. Somerset was the starter of the race, which commenced from tlie Community Centre and finished at the railway station. The Palmerston North Y.M.C.A. sent seven harriers, otherwise the run was confined to Eeilding runners, as other district chilis were unable to bo represented. Prior to the raco members were briefly addressed by Air G. Coleman, secretary of the local club., Air H. Webb, president, expressed bis thanks to those who had participated to make the run a success, and Air J. Scott, of Palmerston North, replied on behalf of the visitors. The result of the run over tlie last 500 yards is as follows:—L. Raynor 1, J. Glecson 2. G. Whittaker 3, L. Afooro 4, L. Hawthorne (Palmerston North) 5, R. Lamberton G.
