Mason, the late Air Jack Stevens, and with Mr and Mrs M. AValdin in the loss of their young daughter, were passed. Alii-I lar) was asked to write to the Auckland association stating that, as far as the sideshow steward at Feilding could remember, the license bad been in order at the Feilding Show. Air J. B. Bradley was appointed delegate to a meeting of A. and P. Associations to be held at the Alanawatu Show in June to consider the proposal lor the formation of a light horse breeds association as mooted by the Alasterton A. and P. Association. ARTS AND CRAFTS. A report- by- Air Godard, judge oi arts and milts, was received. It stated: “As this is the first time that 1 have seen the Feilding Show 1 cannot say how it compares with previous years, but I can say that the standard compares favourably with that of other towns in the Dominion. This, however, should not be taken as unqualifield praise, as the standard of design in New Zealand is far below that of Europe or even some of the other Dominions. The choice of motifs was limited to flowers in almost every- case. It seems strange that geometrical, symbolic, or Alaori ornament should so seldom be used. In some eases landscapes were used to decorate curved surfaces. I think that this is unwise, as it leads to distortions. The actual workmanship was of a high standard, but improvements' couid be made bymore careful thought in the choice of motif, and by- the use of more suitable materials.” The executive committee, recommended that the schedule committees be instructed to select judges nearer to Feilding for the 1941 Show. The bal-ance-sheet revealed a loss of £lB2 on the year’s working alter writing off £199 for depreciation. The stock on hand for the coming season and the credit balance at the bank, amounted to £345, as compared with £330 last year. The executive committee pro-j posed to submit the following remits i to the Royal Agricultural Society’s conference: —“That this conference re- j commends all associations, and specially the Council of the Royal Agricultural Society, to consider the question of having all judging of dairy catttle of productive age carried out on a basis of type and production combined.” “That nil judges of fat stock at present on the list be called together and asked to form an association of fat stock judges and. having done so, to appoint junior judges and generally control the fat stock judges’ list.” The remits were approved by- the general committee. The chairman reported that, with Air A r . Al. Aloffitt, he had attended a conference of A. and P. Associations in the western district held at Wanganui, at which the Feilding Association was granted Tuesday and Wednesday-, February- 4 and 5, 1941, as the dates for its next show. Air Bootli said that there were no Fridays and Saturdays available, and the delegates had accepted the aforementioned dates. Their action was endorsed. Resignations from membership of Alessrs J. AY. Stewart (Apiti), J. AT. Blair (Feilding). T. R. Vile (Te Puke), were accepted with rosret. Aliss M. Murdoch (Feilding), Messrs J. Trotter. J. Hunter and H. E. Hocken and B. God ward were thanked for not charging expenses in connection with their services as judges. A vote of thanks was accorded Aliss •Miller (secretary), Alessrs Pearse, Wells, Brewster and Evans for arranging a display on behalf of the association in the Feilding Centennial procession, comment being made on the excellent display staged.
