Oakley, of Rainforth Street, with their daughter, Miss Noelinc Oakley, are visiting their daughter, Mrs T. U. Bird, of Tauranga. Miss L. A. Brown, who has resigned from the staff of the Palmerston North Girls’ High School in view of her approaching marriage, relinquishes her i position next Friday, and leaves lor i her home at Ashburton. Mr and Mrs W. A. Geary. of Brightwater Terrace, Mesdames A. J. Gearv and A. Tavlor. ot Feilding, and Mr and Airs E. Street, of Marton, are spending Easter at Raumati South. Brigadier Annie Smyth, of tlie Salvation Army, who has been spending her furlough with relatives and friends in New Zealand, has left on her return to Japan. She hopes to return to the Dominion in five years’ time. Word has been received that Miss Beth Bull, who trained in the nursing profession at the Palmerston North Hospital and is now at St. Nicholas Orthopaedic Hospital, in Pvriord, Woking. Surrey, has been accepted by Scotland Yard for 'membership of the London Metropolitan Women Police. The death occurred recently of Mrs George Luke, widow of the Jatc Mr George Luke, at the age of 7-3. Mrs Luko'was born in Wellington and lived in the city all her lilc. She was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Edmund Spencer, who arrived in New Zealand in the early forties, and the youngest of a large family. Her husband, who was the son oi the late Mr and Mrs Samuel Luke, died in 1915. Mr C. R. Luke, of Palmerston North, is a nephew.
