RONGOTEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) UOXGOTFA, March 19. Owing, no doubt, to the shortness of notice, there was a small attendance at the meeting called for Monday evening on liehalf of the National Patriotic Appeal. The majority of the 23 persons present were members of the R.S.A. and their wives. Tho chair was taken hy Mr A. N. Aloreom, who expressed regret that the attendance was net more representative of such a closely settled district; but he felt sure that when they were personally interviewed people in this area would respond to the •appeal as readily as they did in the Great War appeals. Mr \V. A. Churchill read a letter from Mr T. L. Sedclon (Mayor of Keilding) giving an outline of the methods hy which it i«s proposed to raise £IOO.OOO for Salvation Army and Y.M.G.A. organisations to lie used for providing comforts for troops in the Dominion and overseas. It war? decided to form a Rongotca and district: patriotic sub-eommiitec of Zone K. Mr Moreom was appointed chairman, Mr R. O. Gloyn secretary, and Mr H. Fox treasurer, with the following committee members: Messrs \V. A. Churchill. F. G. McKay, J. C. Donovan, A. Simonson, F. J. Arnott, D. Beattie, A. Hnrdsfield, \Y. Gordon, W. Amoy, J. Da ft or, A. Jcysop, W. Mobbcrly, J. L. Gibbons, Mesdamcs Wheeler, Claasen, (/hurt'llill, and Arnott. The following boundaries were approved subject to confirmation'hv the head-quarters committee. Northern Boundary, Taipo Road: Foxton Line, including soldiers’ settlement, to Rongotca Siding; Carnarvon Block, to Rodina Siding; then to Whale Line, to Taikoroa Road on Alain Drain; Kastcrn Boundary, the Oroua. 'The following were appointed to make a house-to-house canvass.: Messrs Churchill, Ainey, Donovan. R. O. Gloyn, A. Simonson and J. C. Gibbons.
