ADDINGTON SALE. FAT LAMBS ADVANCE. I’cr Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. Feb. 21. Yardings were again substantial at the Addington market to-day. Fat catile were forward in heavy numbers and were cheaper, but fat sheep noid well. Lambs were also dearer. The entry of stoic sheep was the heaviest for the season, but the sale was dull for all except crossbreds, and prices, were lower. About 13,000 store sheep were entered and 7000 store lambs. For all classes except crossbreds the sale was slow, with values hack Is a head. Two-tooth Romneys made to 43s and C'orl'iedalee to 30s. The fat lamb yarding was 3500, compared with 4000 a week ago. Exporters bought keenly and values picked up the shilling fall of last week. Butchers bad to pay 9<l for their requirements. The fat sheep yarding was 7000, the same as last week. There was a good demand for all classes, particularly light and medium ewes, for which exporters competed steadily at values Is up on those of last week. The top price for wethers was 37is 4d and for ewes 27s Id. Heavy wethers made 28s 6d fo 31s, medium weights. 25s to 28t=. light to 20s. The fat cattle entry was 583, against 440 last week, and the total was more than the market could absorb. The quality was better but prices were down 25s lo 30s a head. Best steers made £ls to £l9 17s 6d, medium weights £l3 to £l4 15ft, light to £9; best heifers £9 5s to £ls 2s 6d; medium, £8 to £9; light lo £7 15s; best cows, £7 10s to £ll 7s 6d; medium, £5 15s to £5 ss; light, to £5 10s. The pork entry was the largest for sonic time, hut values, were firm. Choppers were in heavy supply, with prices slightly lower; baconers were forward in large numbers, but the sale was excellent. Choppers made to £5 11s; porkers, 39s 6d lo 56s 6d, average 6j,d to 7RI a lb: baconers, 58s 6d to £4 6s 6d with extra heavy to £4 19s 6d, average 6jd to 7d a lb.

JOHXSONVILLE VALUES. Smaller yardings than usual were offered at the sale conducted in Johnsotivi’.le yesterday. The bullocks comprised chiefly heavyweight sorts, with a few pens of medium-weights. Extra prime heavy bullocks met with keen competition, prices showing little alteration on those ruling iast week. Mediumwcight cattle were easier by 5s a head. No prime cows and heifers came forward, the yarding eonlisting of a few pens of plain and unfinished cattle. Because of the poop quality, there were frequent passings. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their weekly Woodvillc sale.-A good yarding o 1 lambs of all grades, along with a fair number of breeding ewes, met with a free sale throughout, tins being particularly noticeable for lambs of all gtades, and we report almost, a total clearance m this section at values highly satisfactory to vendors. PAIIIATUA EWE FAIR. At the Pahiatua ewe fair the quality was not near the standard of the , fail two weeks previously, although quite a number of attractive pens were offered, the 4-yr. ewes being in good demand. 1 lie yarding of 2-tooth ewes comprised only medium to small sheep, the best lullgrown sheep selling freely, flic majority remained locally, while the Manawatu buyers were represented. BULLS SALE. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having a large entry of approximately 2500 sheep and a small yarding of cattle and pigs at their fortnightly sale held at Bulls on Monday. The entry comprised principally 5 and 6-ycar ewes, with several pens of younger sheep; buyers operated freely for all younger owes and realisations were well up to recent sales. For the six-year-old ewes competition was restricted, and although there was not a strong inquiry for this class, we report practically a total clearance at late rates. Some good quality lambs were included in the offering, which sold under steady competition at prices satisfactory to vendors. The fat cattle yarded were secured by the local butchers at prices firm on late rates. The demand for store pigs was not so keen as at the previous sale; vendors, however, met the market and a complete clearance was effected. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having held their sale at Rangiwahia on Tuesday, where they yarded a small number of 6-yr ewes, a good yarding of stoic w.f. ewe and wether lambs and approximately 90 S.D. and Romney raitie from 2-th to 5-vr. Competition on the 6-yr ewes was slack, but vendors met the market at satisfactory values. The w.f. ewe and wether lambs were in strong demand and in this section more than satisfactory sales resulted. Southdown rams were keenly sort after, while competition on the Romneys was not at all keen; however, practically everything was sold under the hammer. STORTFORD LODGE. HASTINGS. Feb. 21. Little interest, except for shorn lambs in very forward condition, was taken in the sale at Stortford Ixxlgc. Values for fat rallies were easier, though well-finished entries showed an improvement. Heavy rows showing finish brought from £7 lOst to £8 10s and lighter pens from £6 5s fo £7. Very forward, high-country, wellgrown shorn Romney lambs brought from 14s 9d to 17s 9d: medium grown woolly pens in quite fair order from 10s to 12s, and small-grown woolly pens from 8s to 9s. Exceptionally good prices for stud owes were a feature cf the unreserved dispersal sale held to-dav of the well-known Waitoru Romney sheep stud, consequent upon the recent 'death of Sir William Hunt. Up to 40 guineas were paid for stud ewes, the top figure being given by 11. B. Johnston. the well-known Fcdding breeder, for a very classy one-shear owe. The sale which was conducted by Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., on behalf of the estate of the late Sir William Hunt and W. E. Hunt, Waitoru Downs, attracted Romney breeders from many parts of New Zealand, including North Auckland, Watrarana and Manawatu districts. Several single owes were bought for export to Australia.
