Members of a Fighter Command squadron which shot down a Heinkel off Northumberland on February 3 are liable to pay salvage and Customs charges on wreckage washed ashore from the Heinkel. However, the authorities are not applying the law, but a piece of metal from the wreckage has been beaten into a shield engraved with the squadron’s crest for presentation to an P..A.F, hick*.
