(From Our Own Correspondent.) COLYTOX, Feb. 20. The widespread popularity of Albs Hazel Hockcn and Mr R. Burgess was testified on Saturday evening, when friends from far and near journeyed to the local hall to attend a gift evening in honour of this popular young couple, who arc shortly to be married. Dancing to music supplied by an orchestra went with a swing, songs were rendered by Miss J. Macleod, Mr X Shortall. and Mr J. Hansen, while a sailor’s hornpipe by the Misses P. and V. Shortall was enjoyed, the accompaniments for the singing being played by Miss M. Garret, of Fcilding. Mr 'V. J. Smith, on behalf of the residents, conveyed to Miss Hockcn and Mr Burgess the best wishes of the gathering for their future happiness, Mr Smith also expressing the regret that Coivton was losing from its midst two of its most popular young folk who had always taken a keen interest and active part in both social and sporting spheres. He asked the guesls to accept many gifts. On behalf of the Anglican Church parish.
