Sir Howard Kennard, the British Ambassador who was formerly in Warsaw, has gone to Paris as Ambassador to General Sikorski’s Government. M. August Zaleski, a new Polish Minister, will visit London next week for a few days, during which time he will have conversations with the Foreign Secretary, Lord Halifax, and other members of the War Cabinet. Reference to the death of Rev. John Paterson, of the Stratford Presbyterian .Church, was made by. Rev. J. Hubbard, yesterday, in St. Andrew’s Church, Palmerston North, of which Mr Paterson was for a time interimmoderator. Mr Paterson’s father, Mr Hubbard said, had died while yet young, leaving the late minister with the responsibility of providing for the family. Imbued with great ability, Mr Paterson had been able to do this. He had accomplished his greatest work in Christchurch and had. been one of the foremost preachers in the Dominion, as well as a great protagonist of social reforms. Tn 1924 Mr Paterson had gone to Wanganui and 18 months ago to Stratford. Unfortunately he had been laid aside with illness for several years while at Wanganui. On numerous occasions he had occunied the pulpit in Palmcrstou North.
