SAWMILL FIRE
COMPANY’S SEVERE LOSS
Per Press Association. TAUMAItUN Ul, Oct. 7. Half the stacked timber was destroyed in the fire at the Marton Sash and Door Company’s mill at Erua, but tile mill bouses were saved. Twenty men from the State forestry reserve at Kariori joined the mill hands in fighting the flames, which were aided by a strong wind.
The company lias lost two other mills by fire during the past six months —one at Waione and another at National Park, and the fire is a severe blow.
