KOPANE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) KOPANE, Oct. 5.

At the annual meeting of the Tennis Club Mr Lancaster presided. The secretary (Miss M. Morgan) read the report and balance' sheet, which showed a credit balance of £7 10s. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr L. Lancaster; vice-presidents, Messrs E. J. Morgan, I). ,G. Warner, F. J. Boddy. O. T. Rovington Jones,, R. Glasgow, L. B. Wall, T. Pitt. A. N. Morcom, B. K. Thomson, J. Corbett, A. Tliomson, 15. P. Hall and A. Rutledge; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. Thomson; committee, Mcssrs_ E. Norris, A. Thomson, J. Thomson, Misses J. Glasgow, M. Morgan, E. Boddy, N. Beattie, and V. Morgan; club captain, Mr J. Thomson; vice-captain. Miss J. Glasgow; delegates to To Kawau Tennis Association, Messrs E. Norris and L. Lancaster; auditor, Mr L. G. Warner. New members ■elected were Messrs M. Hill, B. Jone 9 and R. Madson. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the chairman. Although the club has been unfortunate in losing a number of its old members, new ones are moving in to take their place and there appears every prospect of a very successful season. Opening day was held on Saturday last, and no doubt the beautiful weather tended to oncourage the presence of many' of tho visiting players. Over lifty wero present and the games had to be cut down to a time limit to enable a fair share of tennis all round. During afternoon tea. Mr Lancaster' took the opportunity to welcome the visitors. Mr B. G. Warner, headmaster of tho Kopane School, has, owing to ill-health, had to obtain ' leave from his duties, and all will wish him a speedy recovery. He is at present being relieved by Mr Davey. Tho friends of Mrs C. 11. • Thompson will be pleased to learn that her- condition is improving; sho recently underwent an operation. -
