FIREMEN HAMPERED.
SULPHUR PLANT BLAZE. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Oct. 8. Machines from the three suburban stations at Green Island, Mouth Dunedin and Iloslyu, as well as apparatus from the central station, were necessary to deal with a fire in the sulphur plant at the manure works 1 at. Burnside this morning. The structural damage was not great, but the fumes made the brigade’s work difficult, and it took three hours to got to the seat of the fire and bring the smouldering sulphur under control.
Brigadesmen wore oxygen breathing apparatus and used foanute.
