HARRIERS.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. Amongst the Feilding harriers, two members at least; are at the top of their form as was evidenced by their success at the annual championship events, decided at Air G. Parker’s property on Saturday afternoon, when G. Whittaker won the junior event and ft. Lamborton the senior championship. Throughout the season these two runners have been consistently, successful, and it is not surprising that they should carry off the honours in the decisive manner they did on Saturday when, despite a southerly wind, they put up. meritorious performances. J. Gleeson ran into second place in the junior and C. Hill second in the senior championship. fn the junior event, a distance of four miles, Whittaker won fairly easily from Gleesort, with It. Moore filling third place. Although Whittaker led for nearly all the way, Evans was in first place for the quarter-mile, but he was compelled to retire, arid. Whittaker drew up steadily, to catch Gleeson, and these two ran very well together for the nest two miles, when the former forged ahead to win fairly

easily. The timings were: Whittaker, 26imn oosec; Gleeson, 28min 41sec ; Moore, bom in 7sec.

The senior championship was run over a distance of 6J miles and was well worth watching. From a good start Lambefton went to the front closely followed by Hill, Batten, Moss and Haycock, and right to the finish Lamberton held his own' with ease, and the second and third men both ran very good races. Timings were: Lamberton, 35min 18sec; O. Hill, 3Gmin 24 sec; H. Aloss, 40min 55soc, At the completion of the championships the club was entertained at afternoon tea which was generously provided by Airs G. Parker. Air AVcbb, the president of the club, extended thanks to Mrs Parker on behalf of the club, and she was accorded musical honours. In conclusion, Mr Webb presented trophies to the members who had won them during the season at interclub races and also to those who had been successful in the local club events.
