WOMEN’S WORLD

_ Mrs C. W. Melville, of Palmerston North, is visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs T. J. Rodgers, of Church Street, have been visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs J. B. Simpson are Palmerston North visitors to Wellington.

Mrs A. 0. Morton, of Albert Street, is staying with her daughter, Mrs Black, of Gisborne. Judge R,. N. Jones, C.8.E., and Mrs Jones, of Wellington, were visitors to- Palmerston North on Saturday lor the Brown—Grigor wedding. Miss W. Diederieh, who has been living in Australia for some time, has returned to New Zealand and is at present visiting her parents, Mr and' Mrs Dkjderich, of Linton Street.

Mrs Effie Walker, of Big Ridge, in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, celebrated her 108th birthday in July. She is a native of Stornoway, in the Hebrides, speaks Gaelic, and is still physically and mentally alert.

Her friends will be pleased to learn that Mrs E. L. Christian has recovered sufficiently from her illness to leave hospital and is now staying with Mrs T. Smidt, of Awapuni. She will later visit her * daughter, Mrs N. Lainont, at Masterton.

Miss Joyce Cameron, of Alan Street, leaves on Thursday for Sydney, en route to Brisbane, where her marriage to Mr C. E. Whitehead, of Mareeba, North Queensland, will take place. Accompanying her are her parents, Mr and Mrs W. H. L. Cameron.
