NAVAL PAY
INCREASES ANNOUNCED
(By Telegraph—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Sept- 23. After consideration of the report or the Committee on Naval Pay, it was announced by the Minister of Defence (Hon. F. Jones) to-day that the Government had approved a new scale which is effective from June 1 last, involving increases of lOd a day for leading ratings, and Is 4d tor pettyofficer and chief petty-officer ratings, with corresponding increases and progressive rates of pay. Warrant officers on promotion receive an increase of Is 6d a day. The three-year rate is increased by Is 3d, the six-year rate by Is and the nine-year rate by 9d a day. A superannuation scheme is being introduced to supersede the deferred pay of all ratings joining after January 1, the contributions being 5 per cent, of the pay received.
