DOMESTIC SERVICE. The problem of domestic service was referred, to by Mrs C. O. S.Stewart (Government, Wellington Best), blie would like to seo the Government bring down legislation under which girls and women, in service would be protected. The Opposition member for Christchurch North (Mr S. G. Holland) had said that women living in the country found difficulty in getting domestic help to-day, Airs Stewart said. The suggestion that because tho Wellington branch of the Clerical Workers’ Union had invested some £I4OO in the Government’s recent internal loan it subscribed to the gangster system of finance so much decried by Government members was made by NTr Bodkin. In the past two years the Wellington branch had surpluses totalling more than £IBOO, a.nd it. had decided to lioeome one of those muchdespised bondholders by subscribing the sum of £1444 to the recent internal loan.
