CARE WITH FIREARMS.
NEED FOR TRAINING. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 30. That every person should be taught to handle firearms properly in view of the many appalling accidents involving guns and rifles was an opinion expressed by Hon. AA T . E. Parry (Alinister of Internal Affairs), at the official opening of the Auckland Gun Club's new ground and club house at Alount AA’ellington. “The facilities provided by most of the gun clubs throughout New Zealand afford every boy and girl an opportunity to learn to shoot correctly, and the proper management of firearms,” said Air Parry. “There are established clubs in all the principal centres in the Dominion, and I am pleased to see that a good number of young men are members. I trust that many more young men will enrol.” Air Parry said gun shooters in New Zealand would not be found wanting should they be required for the defence of their country, and they were now more fit for an emergency than any other section of the community. If a contest were arranged between rifle and gun shots, Air Parry considered that the latter would prove superior. It was mentioned by the Alinister that three American lady shooters would visit New Zealand next year for the Centennial celebrations, and lie said lie would like to see them opposed by a New Zealand girls’ team.
