FOXTON-SHANNON HIGHWAY
TO BE lAIPROA'ED. Improvements to the Foxton-Shan-non Road, now a highway, are contemplated by the' Mannwntu County Council. Tt is proposed to bring the road up to full highway standard, the level requiring lifting at certain points, while the conformation can also ho improved. Preliminary arrangements for the financing of the work are already in hand. “In company with the county clerk Afr A. Iv. Drew) I interviewed the secretary of the Loans Board with regard to the possibility of raising a ton per cent, additional loan on tho COO,OOO main highways loan,” stated the chairman (Cr. AV. E. Barber). “After explaining the position I was advised to make application for the amount. The indications are that it will he granted.” The council decided to apply for the loan when a full application can bo made, the complete specifications having to lie included.
