JURY INSPECTS BAR.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 17. Wliat was described by the Crown Prosecutor (Mr W. 11. Cunningham) as probably a unique opportunity for a jury to inspect licensed premises in the course of their duties and while the bar was open was afforded the jury in the Supreme Court, Wellington, today. The case being heard was one of alleged theft from the person, and concerned happenings in the bar of a city hotel quite near the Supreme Court building. A plan of the bar was produced in Court, and the first two witnesses called referred to it repeatedly. The subject of a visit to the bar by the jury was mentioned by Mr Cunningham in outlining the Crown case. He said the jurymen might care to inspect the bar after having heard the evidence. At the conclusion of the evidence of the first two Crown witnesses Mr Justice Reed again mentioned the subject, and Mr Cunningham said he thought it would be very helpful to the jury for them to inspect the bar. which was very handy. It might be difficult for them to understand the case without seeing the bar. Mr Justice Reed Hooking at the clock, which showed 4.20 p.m.): I do not know whether this is a good time or a bad one. Mr Cunningham: I think we would be just ahead of the crowd. His Honour: Yes, very well. Addressing the jury, His Honour said the Crown suggested they should see the bar. The Registrar would accompany them, and they could como back to Cdurt at 10 a.m. next day.
