LONDON BUTTER MARKET.

NEW ZEALAND CLOSES AT 1265. CHEESE PRICES STEADY. The London butter market is slow, according to the cubled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department, through the Dairy Board. The price of .\ew Zealand butler last week rose to 1265, the first time since January that the guaranteed price level has been passed, 'the present price is from 4s to 5s aewt. above that ruling a year ago. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follow:

New Zealand.—Salted, 126 s (1245; a year ago, 121 sto 1225); unsalted, 1255; a year ago, 122 sto 1235). Australian. —Salted, 117 s (116 s to 117sj ; unsallcd, 116 s to 117 s (116 s to 117 s). Danish.—lo9s f.o.h. ; 130 sto 131 s spot (105 s; 125 s to 1275). Dutch. —Salted, 110 ato Ills (Ills to 112 s); unsalted. 110 sto Ills, ex, 113 s (Ills to 112 s). Irish.—Cream, salted, 121 s (121 s). Lithuanian.—Unsalted, 112 s, ex. 114 s (112 s). Polish.—Salted and unsalted, 110 s to Ills (109 s to 110 s). Retail prices were unchanged. New Zealand at Is 2d and Danish at Is 3d a lb.

The present price of 126 s is equal to approximately 15.13 d per lb f.0.b., New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d per lb, f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124 s3d per cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 7.49 d per lb, f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d.

Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week totalled 1278 tons, as

against 1804 tons for the preceding week, 't he quantity in store on Friday, including 249 tons ex Port Wellington, was 5820 tons, compared with 7487 lons a yearago. Deliveries of Australian butler from store were 1930 tons, ns against 1825 tons for the preceding weeks. The quantity in store was 5835 lons, compared with 4554 tons a year ago. The cheese market was quiet and steady last week, Friday’s closing quota tions," with those for the preceding week in parentheses, being as follow; New Zealand. —White, 64s 6d (64s 6d; a year ago, 69s 6d to 70s); coloured, 67s (675; a year ago. 69s 6d to 70s). South African. —Coloured, 57s to 62s Tlie retail price of New Zealand cheese was unchanged at 8d a,lb. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese from store last week were 15,299 crates, aft against 21.060 crates for the preceding week. The quantity in store, including 8420 crates ex Port Wellington, was 98.513 crates, compared with 76,972 crate.l a year ago. Cheese gradings in New Zealand for tlie week ended July 8 were 531 crates of white, and 534 crates of coloured, a total of 1065 crates.
