BULLS, July 17. There was a good attendance at the July meeting of members of the Parewanui Women's Institute, and one new member was welcomed. Invitations were re- • ceived to attend birthdays at Bulls and , Ohakea. Mrs Anderson demonstrated the j making of foot-stools from tins, and the roll call, “The Funniest Think I Ever • Saw,” caused much amusement. Competi- . tions resulted: Puff pastry, Mrs Whitehead 1, Mrs Osborne 2: bloom, Mrs Abraham ; rolling shilling, Miss Ilealev. Recently a farewell evening was tendered to Mi's McConachy, Mrs Homes expressing . regret at losing such a good member, and wished her good luck in her future home. Mrs McConacby was the recipient of a beautiful eiderdown quilt. Mrs Last-Har-ris kindly gave the institute the use of her home for (he occasion. The August demonstration will be of willow baskets, and llio competition for an eggless chocolate cake. The dance held under the auspices of the Bulls branch of the National Party attracted a large attendance, and non-danc-ers were entered for in the card room. Lamberg, and the Lucky Gay Gordons by Miss G. Bulls and Iluleombe Rugby seniors played at Iluleombe on Saturday under good weather conditions, and a fast and attractive game resulted ill Halcombe winning by 11 points to 6. the margin of points being a good indication of the merits of the opposing fifteens. J. Ilenery, the Waikato representative forward, who is now school-teaching at Tokorangi, turned out. for Holcombe, and played a very “heady” game, liis running and short-grubbers and recoveries troubling the Bulls backs oentinually, but Pye (who is playing great football at preent) was the best forward on Ihe ground. Bulls juniors and Ohingniti met at Bulls, the homo side winning a well contested game by 11 points to 9. In the first spell Bulls held the upper hand, Carter and McElliiiniey scoring tries, one of which T. Ellery converted. T. Ellory also kicked a penalty goal. The visiting forwards played up strongly after changing round, scoring two tries, and a penalty goal brought their total up to 9. Mr Parkinson refereed. Bulls thirds were weak on Saturday .and Flock llouso won easily by 29 points lo nil. For the winners tries were gained by Mansfield (2), Robertson (2), While and Douche. Mansfield converted four tries and kicked a penalty goal. Mr D. J. McAlpine refereed.
