CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCHES.
Life was the subject of the LessonSermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday. The golden text was Amos 5: 14, “Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live : and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.” Among .the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon were the following from the Bible: “1. call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that 1 have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live; that thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey His voice, and that fliou mayest cleave unto Him : for He is thy life, and the length of thy days.” (Dent. 29: 19, 20.) Also the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Alary Baker Eddy: “Alortal man can never rise from the temporal debris of error, belief in sin, sickness, and death, until he learns that God is the only life. Let us feel the Divine energy of spirit, •bringing us into newness of life and recognising no mortal nor material power as able to destroy. Let us rejoice that we are subject to the Divine ‘powers that be.’ Such is the true science of being.”' (pp. 289 , 249.)
