SMALL ROOMS.
A small room can be made to look more roomy if care is exercised in the choice of furnishings and in arranging the furniture. In giving consideration to this problem, start with the walls. 'Wall-paper that is large in pattern or dark in colour is unsuitable. Choose small patterns and light colours. Paper with vertical stripes will suggest added height to the walls. Never put a deep frieze or low picture rail in a small room. I loth have the elfect of reducing the height ol the room. A small room should always contain the minimum amount of furniture necessary for its purpose. In a bedroom, low beds and furniture will look much more appropriate than other types. Floor coverings for small rooms should be of small patterns and light colours. A large mirror placed rather low. and facing the window, will help to supply the illusion of size. Pictures, if any, should lie very small. Curtains should he of transparent, not opaque material.
