The visiting forwards played great football, especially Dalton, Reid. Jackson, Alci Donald and Wilson, and they won most of the scrums and line-outs, while in the loose they were brilliant. It was only the dogged Wairarapa defence that was saving scores. The Bay backs were clever and tricky and they were easily masters of the Wairarapa rearguard. The best of the visiting backs were Dyer, Moss. Fox and Devine. Peterson. Hatton and Den bee were the pick of the local backs. There were many thrilling incidents in the game and the spectators were kept on their toes. In the first spell Fox and Devine scored tries for Bay and Brnnton kicked a penalty goal for Wairarapa. In the second spell Thompson scored a try for Wairarapa and for Bay tries were obtained by T. Heid (converted by Fox), Fox and McDonald.
