(From Our Own Con'csponclcnf.) MAKING, June 10. At die monthly meeting of the Women’s Tnstihue Mrs Simpson presided. Before commencing the business Mrs Simpson spoke of tho loss the instimle had sustained in the passing of Mrs Evans. The members stood in silence as a mark of esteem. A motion of rytnpadiv was also extended to the Misses Oldfield in their recent bereavement. Two new members were welcomed. Mosdames Scott and \\ ildborc. Ad! die members proved very willing lo contribute towards die display. Miss J. Nairn contributed elocutionary items, and Miss A. Wells mandolin solos, both being thanked. f'linipetitions resulted: —Flower. Mrs J. Simpson 1 Mrs Ilislnp 2. Mrs Wilton 3: knitted 1,,.,1 socks. Mrs D. Reid 1, Mrs Ilislnp 2. Mrs V. Reid 3; dainties, jug, Mrs Ilislnp (who won after a draw with Mrs Thurston). At next month’s meeting, which will take tho form of a “ScoCwh” aflernonn, a enmnet ition will lie held for n plale of Scottish short bread, the following recipe lo he used; ilb butter, 4oz sugar, and Jib flour.
