DOMINION ASSOCIATION, J.IALCOMBE CLUB JOINS. The; monthly meeting of tho council of the New Zealand Cull Assoctation was held this week. There were present Sir Alexander .Roberts (ehairman), Messrs W. A. Kiely, \V. IS. A. Gill, C. A. Burgess, J. H. Drake, J. C. I’eacock, A. It. Sclander.s and G. O. Sutton t see ret a ry). The following new clubs, which had duly made application, wore elected members of the association Awakino Golf Club (Awakino), Glcnmark Golf Club (Waipara, Canterbury), Greenacres Golf Club (Nelson), llalcomhc Golf Club (llalcomhc), iluapai Golf Club (Kuineu, North Auckland), and Mossljuru Golf Club (Mossburn, Southland).
Various correspondence 'ui tti the advisory committees at Auckland and Christchurch was road relative to the draft programme lor their tournalueuts and to a souvenir programme which a printing linn lias suggested producing in a form suitable lor the occasion. Both these matters were approved. .Reports were submitted regarding the tours arranged showing that both John Watt and J. A. Clements (association professionals) arc now completely hooked up until the latter part of July. Various reports received on the coaching by John A\ ait (whose, lirst engagement lids is) were completely .satisfactory. The secretary reported that up to date 22 additional clubs have come into the policy lor third party insurance and ‘that further enquiries were being received. It was resolved to circularise clubs in connection with the liability of members as regards caddies.
An application for reinstatement line! to tie declined as the applicant had spent seven years as a professional, which, under the. rules of the authorities at Jlomo, makes him ineligible for reimsta lenient. A letter was received from a young man in Christchurch who had, in his youth, been an assistant to a professional, and after enquiries had been made from the dub at which lie had acted, it. was resolved to approve in their suggestion that anything he lias done dues not affect his amateur status.
A communication "as received from tile Koval and Ancient linlf Club of St. Andrews advising that at a meetini' of that club held on May 2 the Hides of (foil were altered in the direction of limiting the number ol clubs to be used or to be carried during a round to 1-1. A letter was received from a Wellington club suggesting that a local committee be set oj) to deal with local matters (such as the holding ol tournaments) as the club considered there were far too many open tournaments held during the Easier week-end. with the result that the success oj most of them was adversely affected. The eounei! considered that the holding ol local and provincial tournaments does not conic under their jurisdiction and that it is quite open to any clubs to form their own committee and to agree to he hound by the decision of that committee in such matters as local touriinmcn l s.
