LONG T-TST OF REMITS. AA'ELLTNGTON. June 7. The annual conference of the New Zealand AVorkers’ Union, the largest industrial organisation in the Dominion, with a membership of more than 30,000, will bo held in the Trades Hall. AVellington, beginning on June 27. it is expected that tlic conference will lie opened by the Minister' of Public AYorks (lion. R. Semple). Onlv one ballot was conducted for the official positions, the national secretary, AH- A. Cook, being returned by a large majority over Afr A. T. de Cleene (Palmerston North). Air R. Eddy (AA’cliiiigton) was returned unopposed as national president and Mr C. E. Baldwin (Christchurch), was returned unopposed as vice-president. The various districts will be represented at the conference hv the following 24 delegates:—Messrs H. Caldwell AA r . .J. Coppersmith (AVcst Coast), E. j. Burrell, J. AVriglvt (NelsonMarlborough), A. A. de Vantier, AV. Herbert. AL J. Hickey (Otngo-South-land). H. Mavuard, R. Macdonald (Gisborne), F. Fenton, A. Hariday. XV F Shilton (Auckland), AY. Brooker. J. Gill. D. Hourignn, AY. G. Park (AVollington), A. E. Armstrong, A E. Elliott., A. J. Hamilton, P. J. Kelly (Christchurch). Several hundred remits will lie eonsidered by tlie conference. In addition, more than 1009 remits have been received concerning agreements for Public Works employees, which have now expired, and on which negotiations are at present in progress with the Government. The agreement lor shearers lias also expired,"and negotiations for a new agreement are to lie set. in motion.
