REEF STRUCK.
SWEDISH STEAMER PARTLY AWASH. BRISBANE, June 7. Radio messages report that the Swedish steamer Potini Carras (4466 tons) struck tho middle of Bellotni Reef, about 250 miles west of Now Caledonia. Tho vessel is partly awash. Iho crew numbers between 30 and 40. It was bound for Bowen (Queensland) from New Caledonia. Coastal vessels throughout last night picked up distress signals from the Potini Carras and the Danish vessel Australieu is proceeding to the scene at full speed, hut will bo unable to reach tho stranded vessel until to-morrow afternoon. VESSEL SINKING. SITUATION DANGEROUS. Received Juno 9, 10.10 a.m. BRISBANE, Juno 9. The latest message from the steamer Fotini Carras stated that the vessel was rolling on the reel' and all the forward tanks and holds, the bunkers and the engine-room were full of water. An S.O.S. was heard asking for assistance from all ships in the vicinity. Later, the master advised that the vessel was going down by the head and the situation was very dangerous.
