CROQUET ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING HELD. Airs F. Petrie (Oroua) presided at tho annual general meeting of the Alanawatu Croquet Association yesterday. Also present were the following delegates: Alcsdamcs J. Hatpin (Woodvilie), H. Glass (Rungatira, Dannevirke), W. J. Robertson (Alanawatu), J. E. Edelstcn (Podding). Nicholson (Levin), H. Blown, L. Wood, At. Lee (Northern) and Bryant (Alanakau); also Alcsdamcs 13. R. Spence (Fcilding) and T. Simpson (vice-presi-dents), and A. ltadlord (acting-secre-tary). Tho report (already published) and tho balance-sheet, the latter showing a satisfactory financial state, were adopted without comment. Thanks were conveyed to Airs Petrie for having donated a cup for the level singles (handicaps 3 to 5). Airs S. J. Parkos wrote thanking the members for the presentation, made to lier before she left on her trip to England. Permission was granted to tlie Rangatira Club, Dannevii'ke, to hold the Southern Hawke’s Bay tournament in the third week in February. The Alaurieeville Club wrote asking whether the Country Cup should not bo awarded on points rather than games. This was confirmed and the Eketalmna. Club is to be asked to transfer the cup to the Afauriceville Club in accordance with tlr.s decision. Approval was given to the request of the Eketalmna Club to transfer to the Wairarapa Association, subject to confirmation by the New Zealand Council. The New Zealand Croquet Council notified tho provisional dates for the : proposed Test matches tor the MacRoliertson International Croquet Shield and the championship meetings to be | held in the Centennial year, as follow: —First Test, Auckland, commencing December 18. 1939; New Zealand Centennial International Championships. Wellington, Lower Hutt and Pctoive. January 9, 1940; New Zealand , Centennial Championships, "Wellington. Lower Hutt and Petone. January 18. 1 19-10: second Test. Christchurch. Feb 1 niary 1 1940; third Test, Dunedin, jFebruary 12, 1940. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow: —President, Airs I*. Petrie: vice-presidents, Alesdamos \\. ,T. Robertson (town) and B. R. .Speiic* (country); acting-secretary. Alrs_ A. Radford; lion, auditor, Air A. K. Kcrslake; bandicapper, All's E. Anstis; ns-sistnnt-hnndk'appor. Airs T. Simpson, district handicappers. Alesilames Nicholson and Glass, assisted by Airs Bn ant. Afesdanies "Wilson, Bryant, l.yall and Edelsten were added to the list ol official referees. It was decided to hold the annual tournament- on November 28. the programme to follow the lines of previous years, and the Alanawatu green to be. the headquarters. The suggestion that all players assemble at the Alanawatu green for an opening ceremony was approved. Airs S. J. Parkos was appointed tournament manager, with Airs A. Iladford as assistant. A proposal that inter-club matches bo carried oil as previously was approved, and it. was decided to notify the council that the members would compete for the silver buttons.
