PALMERSTON NORTH BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the Women's Division of tlie Farmers’ Union was held at .Messrs Collinson and Cuuninghame’s rooms yesterday afternoon. Following a resolution passed at the provincial council meeting, held in Marton, that branches arrange lor home nursing lectures at their mootings during the coming year, it was decided to' arrange a series of such lectures, to commence in August, the completing of arrangements being left in the president’s hands. Correspondence was received from (lie home science department of Otago University outlining the courses open to students desirous of taking up the study. A short outline of what was being done in the Taihapc district under the auspices of the adult education travelling tutors, was listened to with interest. Mrs T. The international situation, calling as it did for national registration, had been discussed at the inter-proyincial conference held recently in M angn.ni 11 . and branches of the division wore endorsing any recommendations made l>v the Farmers’ Union. Mesdnmes Screech and Darkness, hospital visitors for last month, reported on their activities and were accorded a vote of thanks. Mesdames Montgomery and Aitken undertook those duties for next month. Correspondence relating to the arrangements for the Pan-Pacific Conference was on hand, and it was announced that the booking of season tickets would ho available until September. It is hoped that members of ibo local branch of tlie W.D.F.U. will be able to participate in these privileges. Votes of thanks were passed to Mrs Jennings and Miss Mathcson and their helpers for making the quota of roses on behalf of the W.D.F.TJ. for Mother’s Day, and to Mesda iocs Clausen and Screech for ararnging the room for the meeting. Two housekeepers are at present engaged in the district and are doing good work. Appreciative letters were received from those who had had the services of the housekeepers during the past month. Prior to the general meeting Die committee met. Mrs Field presided over a good attendance. Mattel's in connection with the stall at the Show were completed and accounts passed for payment. An apology for absence was received from Mrs Howell and Mr s Green. New members elected were Mrs Lewis (Milson) and Mrs and Miss Avery (Bulls).
