The power grader and roller are now at work on Taonui Road North: this road is being scarified, reshaped and “reeompacted.” Western Riding: Good progress has been made with the reconstruction of the bridge over the Makino Stream on Reid’s Line; this work .should Ikj completed during the present month. The contract for reconstructing two miles of the ilalcombe Road is nearing completion. The formation and base course metalling ha\o been practically completed, but a certain amount of work is still rocpiircd to complete shoulders, watertablos ,a.ud shoulder drains. The crushing plant lias been in operation at Kakariki supplying gravel for the construction work on Halcombe Road and for maintenance of various loads about Halcombe. The large drain along Kimbolton Road has been cleaned out. anil an outlet for the new culvert on Forlong’s Road has been cul. Some repairs have been effected to tin? sealed surfaces of the footpaths at JJalcombe.
