TAXI-CAB INCIDENT
TWO YOUTHS IN COURT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 7. Two youths who were arrested yesterday as the outcome of the assault on n txi-driver on Saturday nighty appeared in Court to-day, Loth being charged with assaulting "Willi.un George Styants so as to cause actual bodily harm. As one of the youths is aged only 16 years and 9 months and is thus outside the jurisdiction of the -Magistrate’s Court, ho appeared before Mr W. It. McKean, >S.M., who sat as a. Children’s Court. He was remanded by consent till .June 23, and as neither the Child AVelfa.re Department nor the boy's father would undertake the responsibility of looking after him until then, the Magistrate remanded him in custody and ordered that he 1,0 kept apart from other prisoners. The other youth, Bruce Phillips, aged 17 years and o months, appeared before Mr C. P. Orr-Walker, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court and was remanded by consent till June 23. Ho was admitted to bail on terms of a personal surety of £IOO and another' surety of £IOO, the Magistrate directing that if the bail were not forth coining, he be kept apart from otlnn prisoners.
